Davis provides consulting services to assist in the design of low IR observable ships in each of the basic, detailed, and construction phases. The main activities are as follows.

  • Summarize the IR threats, main IR signature sources, and available stealth technology;
  • Model the ship in ShipIR/NTCS and predict signature for various environmental and ship operational scenarios, and observation points;
  • Recommend application of stealth technology to ship, including: insulation, paint, exhaust suppression, and hull cooling systems;
  • Establish balanced IR signature requirements, and design specs to meet signature requirements;
  • Update the ShipIR model as the design evolves.
