• After a careful review of other ship infrared models from the US and other NATO countries, the NATO Research Study Group (RSG-5) adopted ShipIR as a NATO-standard in 1995.
  • In 1996, the US Naval Research Laboratory (US-NRL) adopted ShipIR as their signature prediction tool for all ship signature and electronic warfare (EW) studies.
  • With funding from the US Office of Naval Research (ONR) and NAVSEA, Davis and the US-NRL have continued to improve and validate ShipIR to meet specific program requirements, including the interfacing of ShipIR output with the US-NRL IR CRUISE_Missiles model.
  • ShipIR and IR CRUISE_Missiles have been accredited by the US Navy under the following programs:
    • DDG-51 Live Fire Test and Evaluation (NAVSEA PMS 400, May 2001)
    • DX Preliminary Design Review (Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, May 2004)
    • DX Live Fire Test and Evaluation (NAVSEA PMS 500, Nov 2005)
    • DX Critical Design Review (Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, May 2005)
